# Trade Shifts

Trading shifts allows you to select a shift you desire that has been assigned to someone else and offer to trade it for one of your shifts.  

### **Trading Shifts from Desktop:**

To initiate a trade, select one of your shifts in "My Schedule".  Then click on **"Trade",** then go to your **"Team Schedule"** and select one of your colleague's shift you desire.  

You can either propose the trade to your colleague to receive their consent or submit the trade request directly to your scheduler.  Please discuss with your scheduler the preferred approach.  In most cases, the preference is to communicate directly with your colleague and obtain their consent.  Your colleague can accept the proposal by click on the "thumbs up" icon and your trade request will be submitted directly to your scheduler or auto-approved and change instantly on the schedule. 

Once a trade request reaches your scheduler, they will get a notification to either approve or deny this shift change. If your scheduler has set an auto-approve mode, then your change will be pre-approved.

### Trading Shifts from Mobile App

1. &#x20;Select your shift you want to give up&#x20;
2. &#x20;Select "Trade"
3. Select your colleague's name from the drop down.  Their schedule will be displayed.  Select the desired shift you want, then either select "**Tap to Propose the Trade"** or **"Tap to Submit Trade".**  Proposing the trade will allow you to work directly with your colleague to receive their consent for the trade, without the scheduler being involved.  Once your colleague has accepted your proposal, the trade request will be sent to your scheduler.  They will get a notification to either approve or deny this shift change. If your scheduler has set an auto-approve mode, then your change will be pre-approved.
