# Replace Personnel

Replace is like a one way change to your shift. If allowed by your scheduler, you can select your shift and replace it with someone else from your team without having to accept another shift as a replacement. You can only replace a shift that you have been assigned to, you can replace a shift assigned to someone else.

To replace or drop a shift, first click on the shift on the calendar. Then click on **Replace** in the **Shift Change Interface.**

You can either propose the replacement to your colleague or submit the offer directly to the scheduler. Proposing the replacement to your colleague acts like a friendly hallway discussion to talk about the trade and obtain consent from the other person. Your colleague can respond to the proposal with a thumbs up or thumbs down. If they accept the offer and give it a thumbs up, it automatically gets sent to your scheduler for final approval.

Note, the propose feature may be turned off by your scheduler in organizational settings, depending on the policy they want to follow to manage shift trades. Your scheduler will then get a notification to either approve or deny this shift change. If your scheduler has set an auto-approve mode, then your change will be pre-approved.
